In honour of Aprils birthstone - the Diamond -
we share a few fun facts.

The name Diamond is derived from the Greek word ‘Adamas ’ which means indestructible.

In ancient Rome and Greece, the people believed that Diamonds were tears of Gods or splinters from falling stars.

Diamonds are billions of years old, in fact the oldest Diamond is believed to be 4 billions years old.

They are the hardest natural substance in the world and made from only one element : pure Carbon (and are the only Gemstone made from just one single element).

They form under intense heat and pressure under the surface of the Earth - actually, about 100 miles (160km) down and only come to the surface by deep volcanic eruptions.

This was a special remodelling job. Trudy had two

This was a special remodelling job. Trudy had two rings that were deeply sentimental, but she no longer wore. The Black Pearl had fallen out of the existing setting multiple times and so she didn’t feel confident wearing it.. but loved it, as she had purchased it in the Cook Islands 25 years ago on a family trip when her three boys were teenagers.

And so, we decided to incorporate it into a new setting - one that felt bold, unique (and secure) and yet tied in the past with the present, incorporating an Australian Sapphire - symbolic - as her now three grandsons are Australian boys.

She isn’t the type of lady to spoil herself often (rather pouring her love into all those around her) and so this piece felt important. And I’m so happy that we got to make this piece for her, to honour her.
