Allow us to help you
Care for your Jewellery.
At Violet Gray, we design our jewellery to stand the test of time. To help ensure your new piece stays beautiful for years to come, we've provided some essential care guidelines, as well as information on the warranty that accompanies your piece when you purchase from us.
Fine jewellery, by its nature, is delicate, which is why we've put together a comprehensive care guide to help you maintain the beauty and longevity of your Violet Gray piece. While we use only the highest quality materials in our designs, it’s important to remember that these materials are not indestructible.
Daily Rituals & Protection
We recommend removing chains, necklaces, and rings during exercise, as they can become caught on weights, gym equipment, or clothing during high-intensity movements. Additionally, sweat can have a negative impact on your jewellery and cause skin reactions.
Extended exposure to water, especially in hot conditions (i.e. spa), can adversely affect certain Gemstones. Additionally, pool chemicals can degrade metal and cause further damage to both the construction of the piece of jewellery and stones. We do recommend removing your jewels before swimming in any body of water.
We encourage you to avoid wearing high-profile jewellery (i.e. rings with elevated settings) while sleeping. These can get caught and may bend or warp the setting and impact the security of the stone/s. Low-profile rings like simple metal wedding bands or diamond eternity bands are generally safe to sleep in as they are less likely to catch. Chains and statement earrings, however, are at risk of tangling, stretching, or warping, so we advise removing them before bed to maintain their condition.
We ask you to be mindful when applying skin products or perfume as these can damage the materials and Gemstones. Body lotions, oils, sunscreens and soaps can also create a build up on or under stones which can make them look cloudy and can take their toll over time. If wearing sterling silver or plated jewellery, products applied can make your metal appear tarnished or remove the plating completely.
Chemical and physical damage can occur to your precious piece when cleaning or doing outdoor gardening activities. We ask you to be mindful of your rings and jewellery as they can be exposed to harsh chemicals, soaps and liquids that may affect their appearance. They can also be damaged outdoors when gardening and may cause scratching and blemishes.
Be very mindful when dressing to avoid your cherished necklace, or ring catching on items of clothing and bending / warping the shape. If this happens, we can repair at the cost of the client.
