A realignment in progress
Over the past thirteen years of Violet Gray, our packaging has taken many forms - each a reflection of where we were at that moment in time. Recently, however, we encountered an unexpected challenge that reminded us why intention must always guide creation.
Earlier this year, we discovered that our most recent boxes — released at the beginning of 2025 — were unintentionally tarnishing our jewellery. A chemical reaction within the adhesive used by the supplier meant we lost almost $5000 in boxes. It was a difficult (and costly) lesson, but one that prompted a necessary realignment.
When the very vessel designed to protect the jewellery began to harm, we knew it was time to begin again — to create something more thoughtful and more aligned with our values.
Our new boxes are lighter in impact and purpose. Crafted from recyclable, compostable cardboard and FSC-certified materials, they honour both the jewellery within and the environment beyond. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification ensures the paper used is sourced responsibly, supporting forests that meet the highest environmental and social standards.
Each box is thick, durable, and intentionally designed to ensure your jewellery arrives safely. It can be reused to store your most loved treasures, or flattened and recycled with ease.
