Alana told me that she remembers the exact day that this piece was found on their property (hand fossicking) near Inverell NSW.
She told me how they dug out the gravel near the base of a small waterfall in their creek (where Sapphires like to drop). They found a few that day and she’s had the rough piece in her collection for a few years whilst working on her cutting skills before biting the bullet and cutting this stone only last week.

What started as a 12 carat piece, has been carefully precision cut into the most beautiful 2.05ct Yellow-Blue (eye clean) Australian Parti Sapphire (8.1 x 6.2mm).

And I am sure it is for someone special….

In honour of Aprils birthstone - the Diamond -
we share a few fun facts.

The name Diamond is derived from the Greek word ‘Adamas ’ which means indestructible.

In ancient Rome and Greece, the people believed that Diamonds were tears of Gods or splinters from falling stars.

Diamonds are billions of years old, in fact the oldest Diamond is believed to be 4 billion years old.

They are the hardest natural substance in the world and made from only one element : pure Carbon (and are the only Gemstone made from just one single element).

They form under intense heat and pressure under the surface of the Earth - actually, about 100 miles (160km) down and only come to the surface by deep volcanic eruptions.
